Beyond thrilled that The Pony and the Starling has been selected as the Family Literacy Day Book Choice for 2026!

Published by Groundwood Books and illustrated by Kristina Jones, copies of The Pony and the Starling will be distributed to elementary school classrooms and early learning facilities throughout the Anglophone East School District of New Brunswick.

This early years literacy initiative is made possible by the Anglophone East School District, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, and the Literacy Coalition of New Brunswick.

The Writers' Federation of New Brunswick (WFNB) and The Fiddlehead have announced the shortlisted titles for the 8th annual New Brunswick Book Awards. The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony on Saturday, June 3, as part of WFNB’s annual WordSpring writing festival in Saint John.
